Bellpepper ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Bellpepper mobile application. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

When you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and basic profile information from those providers. We use this solely to identify your account.

When you use the app, we store the data you enter, including:

• Profile information – your name, estimated birthday, and list of nutrients you choose to track
• Meal entries – meal descriptions you type, AI-generated titles and nutrition estimates, and the time and timezone of each entry
• Nutrition data – calories and macro/micronutrient values associated with your meals
• Nutritional goals – your daily targets for each tracked nutrient

We also collect analytics data (feature usage, screen views, events like meal additions) and crash/error reports to help us improve the app. This data is collected in aggregate and linked to your user ID.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the app's functionality
• To associate your data with your account across devices
• To power AI-based meal analysis — meal descriptions you enter are sent to an AI service to estimate nutritional content
• To generate personalized nutrient goal suggestions — your profile data (age, sex, height, weight, activity level) may be sent to an AI service for this purpose
• To improve the app based on usage analytics and crash reports

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Google Sign-In – for authentication on Android. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple Sign-In – for authentication on iOS. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) – for authentication and data storage. Your data is stored in the United States. Governed by the AWS Privacy Notice.
• OpenAI – for AI-powered meal analysis and nutrient goal suggestions. When you analyze a meal, your meal description is sent to OpenAI. When you request a nutrient goal suggestion, relevant profile data may also be sent. Governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Analytics – for usage analytics. Collects events such as screen views, feature interactions, and onboarding steps. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Crashlytics – for crash and error reporting. May collect device information and app state at the time of a crash. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted secure storage on your device. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below. We will delete your data within 30 days of a verified request.

Children's Privacy

Bellpepper is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
